Join us in cultivating a sustainable tomorrow with Live Fence. Explore how our innovative project harnesses the power of living plants to combat climate change, enhance environments, and empower communities.
At Live Fence, our mission is to inspire and empower individuals and communities to take actionable steps against climate change through the establishment of living fences. We are committed to promoting sustainable practices that not only enhance the environment but also provide economic and social benefits.
By educating people on the advantages of using plants like Gliricidia sepium, we aim to create greener, more resilient landscapes that protect against natural disasters, reduce CO2 levels, and foster a sense of community and ecological responsibility. Together, we can cultivate a sustainable future, one live fence at a time.
Climate change poses a significant threat to our planet, impacting weather patterns, ecosystems, and communities worldwide.
At Live Fence, our cause is driven by the belief that small, sustainable actions can lead to significant positive change. By advocating for and educating about live fences, we aim to create a greener, more resilient world for future generations. Join us in our mission to combat climate change and make a lasting impact on our planet.
Small action, Massive Impact !
Our activities focus on building a culture where every home garden features a live fence, supporting families, the environment, and mitigating climate risks.
By promoting and facilitating the establishment of live fences, we aim to foster sustainable practices and create a lasting impact on both local communities and the planet.
Landslide avoiding Live fence
Our live fences, utilizing Gliricidia in a unique planting technique, effectively prevent landslides.
Our innovative approach to preventing landslides using live fences won a prestigious silver medal at the Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Expo (KIDE) in Taiwan. Additionally, we received a silver medal at the Sahasak Nimavum National Invention Competition, celebrating our commitment to sustainability and climate resilience. These accolades underscore the impact and effectiveness of our project in promoting environmental conservation and combating climate change.
Virtual Awareness Programs
Discover how these green barriers, featuring plants like Gliricidia, combat climate change, prevent landslides, and offer economic and social benefits.
Our virtual awareness programs are delivered through Facebook, Zoom, and YouTube, making it easy for you to join and learn about the importance of live fences from anywhere. Engage with experts, access valuable resources, and become part of a community dedicated to sustainable living and climate action.
Community Training Programs
These physical workshops provide practical knowledge on planting techniques, care, and the benefits of using plants like Gliricidia to protect against climate-related disasters.
Our community training programs are delivered physically, focusing on empowering the younger generation with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and maintain live fences. These hands-on workshops provide practical experience and foster a deeper understanding of sustainable practices, ensuring that young leaders are well-equipped to make a positive environmental impact.
#FenceEconomy Program
By promoting its use for natural fertilizer, bioenergy, and pest control, this program showcases the significant economic benefits and sustainability that Gliricidia can bring to communities, driving growth and resilience.
Our #GliricidiaEconomy campaign highlights how the Gliricidia plant can revolutionize the economy of developing nations. By promoting its use for natural fertilizer, bioenergy, and pest control, this program showcases the significant economic benefits and sustainability that Gliricidia can bring to communities, driving growth and resilience.
About Live Fence
Live Fence is an innovative project launched by a group of four undergraduate students from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, in parallel with the SSCCA program. The Student Society for Climate Change Awareness (SSCCA) is a transformative accelerator program in the South Asian region, addressing the urgent issue of climate change through youth leadership. Empowering university students with essential knowledge and tools, this initiative fosters dialogue and action on climate justice, with a strong focus on marginalized communities.
